Forming Healthy Dating Habits
Recently, "Dating Detox" has gained a great deal of attention. Because many singles go from one disappointing date to the next, habits begin to form regardless of the fact that each partner is different and unique. Unfortunately, some dating avenues and events can foster this tendency.
Among other things, some singles are so desperate that they might forget about the option to pass on mismatches. Instead, they will settle for someone that might not be right for them, and then repeat old behaviors that will lead to an end in the relationship. Aside from being a recipe for disaster, this also has a tendency to further erode anyone's self-esteem.
Today, the psychological approach to dating touts helping daters gets rid of self-defeating behaviors and develops healthier ones. As an example, someone that is shy may be encouraged to be gradually more outgoing. That said, all of these therapies fail to take into account the power of romantic love. While "love" may seem to be the stuff of fairy tales, consider that when you meet the right man or woman, nothing in the world will stop you from asking that person out or being with them. That includes low self-esteem, shyness, and every other excuse we use to be selective about partners that are wrong for us.
Over the years, psychological dating has attempted to surpass romantic love in achieving matchmaking successes. While this may help some people get out and into the dating scene, it may not be the right solution for everyone.
