First Date's Non-Verbal Cues

Body language can tell you a lot about a person's attitude and behavior. Being able to read body language is something that will help you in your day-to-day interactions with other people, and it would be especially helpful on a first date. In fact, you can easily tell the connection and attraction level after your first date through reading body language.

So, how do you know if your new dating partner is into you just by reading body language? Here are a few tips.

  • Your date's eyes are generally focused on you. He or she seeks eye contact with you and their pupils should be slightly dilated or enlarged. If his or her eyes are always darting here or there and seldom has eye contact on you, then your date is probably uneasy, uncomfortable, easily distracted or bored.
  • Your date is in a relaxed posture and his or her body is tilted towards you. His or her body may shift occasionally, but their body is always leaning in towards your direction. If the body's position is away from you, his or her body is rigid rather than relaxed, and if they have their arms are folded across the chest, it may be a sign that your date may lack interest.your
  • Your date's head is tilted slightly as he or she listens to you. Among women, this could be accompanied by stroking or twirling a lock of their hair. However, if your date does not move his or her head, the attraction may not be there.

You have to pay close attention to what the woman or man is telling you through his or her body language. However, be careful and not misinterpret the body movements. What you think means one thing may actually mean another. For example, adjusting the eyeglasses may mean that the person is nervous rather than bored.
